One Cool Weekend

This post was long overdue.  It was almost two weeks since I was out for two consecutive weekend days for a little R&R...an icebreaker from the tedious but fun-filled role as a homemaker.  Thanks to D(my husband) and to my in-laws for babysitting the kids so I could go on a day-off!  So lovely!  The early days of that week were spent reviewing my son for the science quiz bee. Though he didn't win, I was thrilled knowing that he has the capacity to brave such competition. Or if he thought it as one.

Came Friday, I had a short trip to my favorite salon in town for a quick fix in my hair as mine was always unruly and a combo treat for my nails up and down.  Ha ha.  For a slight change, I let my locks looked prim and proper as I would be meeting my best buddies from college since I was kind of imagining they would comment, "Oh, nothing has ever changed in you Tere!" Ha ha ha.  After that I went straight to the terminal to catch a ride and soon I was in Trinoma Mall, our rendezvous. We settled for a Japanese restaurant and so the catching-up-in-each-others'-lives moment began. It really felt good to be with them again, cool(using this word makes me feel young) unpretentious friends and the witnesses to my prime of youth.  Ha ha.  I missed them, our days at the university, the memories we shared. It was so much worth to keep in touch with them and keep them as friends for life. We wrapped up our get together with some desserts at Conti's.  I was so nonchalant that I forgot the time and it was already close to midnight!  We made a pledge to make a regular get together every year and not every 4 years! :)  With much contemplation(whether I could catch a ride back home still alive due to a downpour outside with no umbrella) and partial guilt(that I would be spending the night without my kids for the first time) and the persistent prodding of D for safety reasons, I decided to spend the night in my in-laws' house in the city.

So here they are: my best buddies in UP!

The following day was the wedding of our dear friends in Bulacan.  After being battered with typhoons, one after another, I had doubts that this wedding would be a thrill. But it was! Despite the cloudy weather that day, they kept their cool (oh, here it is again!) and made it one memorable day not just for them but also for us! The touching moments at the church literally melted my heart. A well-said understandable sermon by the priest(I rarely listened to such unless I heard something catchy) and their personal vows to each other to which the groom read from his mobile phone! How cool was that?! (Now I am using that word for the fun of it, ha ha ha.) It made me teary-eyed and laughed at the same time.  Then the fabulous smorgasbord at the reception in one of the most fabulous places in Malolos, The Cabanas! Coming from a catering family, it wasn't surprising that they had a well-planned menu.  I had a hard time which ones to pick so as not to make me full before dinner  was served.   Aside from the truly delectable dishes, I would say my favorite part of the celebrations was when the entourage was introduced, they came in dancing, and of course the newlyweds too!!  And it made everybody  groovy!! I bluntly professed it was indeed one of the best weddings I've been invited to.
The coolest newlyweds
It was surely one great weekend! Probably due to the cool weather(oops sorry!) or it's been raining intermittently here in Bulacan.

I'm curious, did anyone out there have one cool (this is the last one promise) weekend too???
